Fantasy & Wildlife

A collection of ethereal oil paintings exploring the overlaps and commonalities of the natural and the fantastical. In my work, it is not uncommon for me to treat our fellow kin in the animal world as containing wonders not known to us, as existing in some larger way than we can understand. In a way which is related but reversed, I am also drawn to portraying fantasy creatures such as dragons in a way which shows a sort of natural harmony with their environment, whether that environment is an earthly sky or something more akin to a spiritual dreamscape. It is that space between these realms that I am attempting to touch with these paintings— to portray the familiar, but immersed in that certain something beyond our grasp, to lend tangibility to that space which is felt but cannot easily be described.
